Menu Planning 101

P/S: A list of the Chosen 5 Meals for next week here.

As mentioned in the Happy Housewife's Blog, here is my list of 15 meals below. I will try to link up the recipes if I can find them online, and if not then I will type them out here.

List of 15 Meals

Chicken/Beef Mushroom Stew
Hainan-Style Chicken Rice with Vegetables
Spaghetti Bolognaise
Fried Chicken with Salad
Chicken Casserole
Pasta Bake
Tuna Salad
Clear Chicken Soup
Chicken Curry
Asam Pedas (Fish in Tangy Hot Chili Sauce)
Grilled Chicken with Spices
Chicken/Lamb Kabsah/Biriyani (I add 2 tbsp mint to this)
Grilled Fish
Grilled Lamb
Jacket Potatoes

And another 5 meals (whoops! It's gonna be more than 5 I am afraid):

Clear Beef/Mutton Bone Broth (omit the curry powder, poppy seeds & coconut milk)/Sup Tulang
Nasi Lemak (Coconut Rice with spicy sauce)
Nasi/Mee Goreng (Fried Rice/Fried Noodles)
Fish in Tangy Tempoyak (fermented durian) Sauce
Fish n Chips

And Some Side Dishes:

Mirepoix as Soups or Stir Frys
Tabouleh & a Cheesy version here
Asian Salsa aka Sambal (minus the prawn patty - allergy!)
Tossed Salad with olive oil dressing
Potato Salad
Vegetable Stir Fry (Oriental-style, with soy or oyster sauces or both)
Fruit Juices
Japanese (mini) cucumbers
Cherry Tomatoes
Homemade Garlic Chili Sauce (great with Hainan-style Chicken Rice)
Homemade Roast Tomato Sauce
Kerabu (Tangy Thai-Style Salad) with Mango, Chicken or Seafood (replace budu with fish sauce or Worcestershire Sauce)
Kuah Asam (Chopped Onions, Chili and Tomatoes in Tamarind Sauce)
Sambal Kicap Soto (hot chili peppers and garlic blended in sweet soy sauce)

Buffie: Don't worry, it takes a while to come up with it. You may be pleasantly surprised at the variety of dishes that are in your arsenal! :-)

Yum! looks like a great list. I love all the ethnic dishes...making me hungry just thinking about it!
